He moved to Los Angeles, where he played small roles on television series such as: Saved by the Bell, The Wonder Years, Roseanne and Married with Children.Dane’s first major film appearance was in 1999’s “The Basket”. In 2000, Eric signed up for a recurring role in a medical drama “Gideon’s Crossing”, which lasted one season. Eric quickly moved on to another leading role on a television series in “The American Embassy”, but the show was cancelled after only a few episodes. Eric came back a year later with a recurrent guest spot on the popular teenage sci-fi series “Charmed” as ‘Jason Dean’ Phoebe’s boyfriend/boss.Dane briefly became involved with actress Lara Flynn Boyle when the two met while filming crossover episodes of their respective drama series Gideon’s Crossing and The Practice, both produced by David E. Kelley. On October 29, 2004, in Las Vegas, Eric Dane married actress Rebecca Gayheart, who was previously engaged to producer/director Brett Ratner, who is the director of none other than X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). In it, Dane plays the character of “Jamie Madrox”, the Multiple Man.In 2005, Dane was a guest star on the ABC medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. Mark Sloan (nicknamed “McSteamy”) in the eighteenth episode of the second season. Positive audience reaction to the character led to Dane’s becoming a regular in the show’s third season.
